PEARLAND MAYOR REID TO WELCOME FIRST RESIDENTS TO SHADOW CREEK RANCH

Highway 288's largest community to double the population of Pearland

HOUSTON, TEXAS (Sept. 25, 2002) – On Monday, September 30th, Pearland Mayor Tom Reid will be the first to welcome Sean and Stephanie Proffitt and their three daughters, Ashley (10), Amanda (9), and Alyssa (1), to Pearland's newest master planned community, Shadow Creek Ranch.  Totaling over 3,300 acres, Shadow Creek Ranch is the largest residential community to be built in Pearland, and when complete, will nearly double the city's population.  The 3:30 p.m. presentation will be held at 2003 Waters Edge Court in the Perry Homes neighborhood of Enclave Lake Estates.

"We've looked forward to the day when we could welcome residents of Shadow Creek Ranch to the Pearland community," said Tom Reid, Mayor of Pearland. "We've watched the developers turn what was once just a vision, into a tremendous reality. We're certain that Shadow Creek Ranch will be a great success, attracting homebuyers from all over to Pearland."

The Proffitts purchased a Perry Home at Shadow Creek Ranch in August, and became the first residents of the community. Previously, they lived on the west side of Houston in the Westchase area, near Beltway 8 and Briar Forest. "The location of the community, the commute time, and the amenities offered, were the deciding factors in our decision to purchase a home at Shadow Creek Ranch," said Stephanie Proffitt, an attorney with Monks, Monks, Monks & Hiran in Bellaire. "Sean and I both work in the same office and on the worst days we face only a 30 minute drive."

The abundance of lakes was also a deciding factor that influenced the Proffitt's buying decision.  "We saw billboards all over town that depicted Shadow Creek Ranch as a community with a lot of water and trees, and we were intrigued," said Sean Proffitt. "So we drove down (Highway) 288 to check it out.  The lakes were beautiful, the homes were great and we liked the feeling of small-town life so close to all of the downtown attractions."

According to the builder sales associates at Shadow Creek Ranch, the close-in location of the community has been its most successful selling tool thus far.  Since beginning construction on homes at Shadow Creek Ranch in April, over 72 homes have been started.  A year-to-date total of 154 homes have been sold. Currently a total of four families call Shadow Creek home and 15 closings are scheduled this month.

Mayor Reid will join Carlo Ferreira, Principal of Shadow Creek Ranch, and Stephanie Espinosa of Perry Homes in welcoming the Proffitt family to Shadow Creek Ranch.  All media are encouraged to attend as this event will provide a great photo opportunity.
